Food Waste Friday - Cake, cake and more cake.

A rare civilised moment this week at Everyday Life On A Shoestring.  My annual afternoon tea for all the lovely neighbours who help me out with child care during the school year.  This is also a covert operation to promote the correct way to eat a cream tea.  (Which is of course, the Devon way - homemade scones, then clotted cream first, jam second!)

There are rather a lot of cakes and scones left over but everyone seems to like that kind of food waste...

FoodWasteFriday
Food Waste Friday was dreamt up by thefrugalgirl.com, to encourage people to use up food instead of waste it.

  1. I love cream teas! Looks lovely (but my hips really can't take any more over-indulging).

  3. What a lovely table. I've been to teas a couple of times here in restaurants, but don't know if they were cream teas or not.

    1. Our table doesn't often get to look so lovely, so I had to snap a shot quickly!! Cornwall and Devon are famous for their cream teas over here, and there's a lot of argument about which is the true home and the proper way to do it. I grew up in Devon, so you can guess what I think! However the ingredients are the same, scones, cream (preferably clotted) and jam.

  4. Hi Sarah,
Those sound like the best possible leftovers! No problem getting the family to gobble them up, I'm sure.

    1. Yes, you'd be amazed at how quickly a chocolate cake and scones disappear in this house. Nearly gone already! But they haven't noticed where I hid the butterfly cakes yet...
